In 1980 Carol Inglis, Margaret Inglis, and Janice Edelman saw a need in Richmond, Indiana for equine therapy to assist individuals with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. The three became certified through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association and began giving lessons to those in need.
Sunrise, Inc. continued to grow and was organized as a 510(c)(3) nonprofit organization based a short drive outside of Richmond. We now employ professional trainers who are certified under the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship – International (PATH). Our program consists of twelve horses and ponies that love interacting with people providing equine assisted activities.
Our charming facility offers a large outdoor arena, an indoor arena and ample trails. We focus on the basic therapeutic aspects of learning to ride or simply enjoying horse riding. We work with those with disabilities, financial disadvantages and a select few able-bodied riders.
Sunrise, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates off of donations, grants, scholarships, and public support. Without our donors we would not be able to provide lessons to those with disabilities or significant financial disadvantages. Thanks to your support we are able to continue our mission!
